ALBANY, N.Y. -- A law that got the governor's signature Tuesday will ban child marriages in New York State.

The law bans 14, 15 and 16-year-olds from getting married in the state and 17 and 18-year-olds have to get parental and judicial consent.

The governor says more than 3,000 minors got married in the state between 2000 and 2010.
