COLDEN, N.Y. - Two people plead guilty on Friday to charges stemming from a drag race that ended in a deadly crash, according to the Erie County District Attorney's office.

Kody Schroeder, 20 of Holland, plead guilty to charges of Manslaughter, Vehicular Manslaughter and Vehicular Assault. Mercedes Castillo, 18 of Holland, plead guilty to charges of Criminally Negligent Homicide and Assault in the Third degree.

The charges come from April of 2016 when Castillo and Schroeder were drag racing on Center Street in Colden, New York. Schroeder's vehicle crashed into a pickup truck that was turning into a driveway on Center Street. The collision killed Chauncey Kloiber, 28 of Wales, and severely injured Tabitha Trautwein, 20 of Holland. Both Kloiber and Trautwein were passengers in Schroder's car.

Schroeder faces a maximum of 15 years in prison for his charges. Castillo faces up to four years in prison. Both are set to be sentenced on December 14 at 9:30 a.m.
