CITY OF BATAVIA, NY — A Tonawanda man is facing driving-while-intoxicated charges after Genesee County Sheriffs say he attempted to pick up a friend from jail who was arrested for DWI hours earlier.
Nicholas E. Kaiser, 26, arrived at the Genesee County Jail to pick up a friend charged with DWI earlier in the night. Deputies suspected that he was under the influence of alcohol. Kaiser was taken into custody after a series of sobriety tests, troopers said.
Kaiser was charged with felony DWI and felony DWI with a more than .08 percent blood-alcohol-content. Kaiser’s felony charges are due to him having a prior DWI conviction in the past 10 years.
Kaiser was issued an appearance ticket and is scheduled to appear in City of Batavia Court at a later date.
