A former Buffalo Police lieutenant, who admitted to a civil rights violation, has been sentenced to prison for four months.

A former Buffalo Police lieutenant, who admitted to a civil rights violation, has been sentenced to prison for four months.

Gregory Kwiatkowski will also have to serve one year of supervised release, which includes four months of home confinement.

This stems from a 2009 incident.

The U.S. Attorney's office says Kwiatkowski used unlawful and unreasonable force on a teenager.  This happened during a traffic stop on Treehaven Road near the Buffalo and Cheektowaga border.

Two other officers were charged in connection to the incident.  They went to trial, and Kwiatkowski testified against them. The two officers were found not guilty.

The civil case settled for $75,000.
