Buffalo man found guilty in attack on chocolate shop employee

A jury found Jim Jaycox guilty on all charges in Buffalo assault.

BUFFALO, N.Y.- A Buffalo man could spend 25 years to life behind bars after being found guilty Monday in connection with a chocolate shop assault.

The Erie County D.A.'s Office says John Jaycox, 50, of Buffalo, was found guilty on charges including first degree attempted murder, first degree attempted assault, first degree attempted robbery, second degree assault, and first degree attempted sexual abuse.

Jaycox entered the chocolate shop around 2 p.m. March 15, and attacked a 60-year-old employee, according to the D.A.'s Office.

“What makes this case particularly disturbing is that there was no connection between the victim and the defendant,” said D.A. Flynn. “This individual committed a horrific, violent crime after recently being released from prison.”

Jaycox now faces a maximum of 25 years to life in prison when sentenced December 18.
