BUFFALO, NY — A Buffalo native was killed last week fighting ISIS in northern Syria.

29-year-old Nicholas Warden was fighting alongside Kurdish forces near Raqqa when he was killed, according to People's Protection Units.

The People's Protection Unit, or YPG, posted a video of Warden on Facebook in which he stated he was from Buffalo, and that he joined the YPG in February 2017 to fight terrorists overseas.

Warden served with the U.S. Army in Afghanistan.
