United Way of Greater Niagara comes up short on campaign

SANBORN, N.Y. — After just missing its annual campaign goal for 2018, the United Way of Greater Niagara is planning changes to how it reaches the community for this year’s effort.

The agency announced it raised just over $1 million, achieving 96 percent of its campaign goal. That will allow sustained support for Niagara County programs, but no growth.

Jim Briggs, sub-director of United Steel Workers and President of Niagara/Orleans Labor Council, co-chaired the 2018 campaign with William Tiger, former plant manager for General Motor’s Lockport operations and vice-chairman of the United Way board of directors.
