Gas prices in WNY dropping slower than national prices

Here in Buffalo, it's even worse, with the average only dropping three cents to right around $2.96 a gallon.

BUFFALO, N.Y. - Gas prices are falling around the country, but as usual, New York is behind the pace.

The national average has dropped by 22 cents a gallon in the past month, but New York has only dropped an average of ten cents.

Here in Buffalo, it's even worse, with the average only dropping three cents to right around $2.96 a gallon.

AAA says that's largely because of taxes.

"So a lot of times what we see in Buffalo, is Buffalo is very slow to raise its prices. But, when they get higher, they're also very slow to lower them. So now that New York State's has dropped, hopefully Buffalo's will follow suit and will be coming down," said, Elizabeth Carey, AAA Public Relations Director.

Gas prices here could start dropping, but AAA says they could actually go up for a few days next week because of Thanksgiving travel.
