Social Security Administration's search for a new Buffalo home has finally ended

The Social Security Administration has been searching for downtown office space for more than a year

The Buffalo office search for the federal Social Security Administration has ended with an agreement to lease space in a building that once was the Hens & Kelly department store.

The Social Security Administration will lease 17,000 square feet on the second floor of the building at 478 Main St. Ellicott Development Co. is spending $15 million to renovate the 1925 six-story building.

"It helps us move forward," said William Paladino, Ellicott Development president and CEO.
