Bean Bastard plans expansion through franchises

Bean Bastard Coffee has finalized the registration process with the state to begin selling franchise locations for the business.

BUFFALO, N.Y. — Two years after opening, a Buffalo coffee roastery plans to expand its reach through franchising.

Bean Bastard Coffee has finalized the registration process with the state to begin selling franchise locations for the business, which includes coffee roasted at an off-site location in Bowmansville, a café business as well as retail and wholesale products.

Founded as a mobile food truck operation, the café opened at 448 Elmwood Ave., Buffalo, in September 2020 after founders Nick Mirusso and Rich Casey leased an 1,800-square-foot retail space left vacant by Perks Cafe in Elmwood Village. Casey and his wife run Rust Belt Barbering & Salon Co. next door and heard about Perks closing before the space went on the market.
