One Great Thing: Back Vonn Schedule

American skiier Lindsey Vonn, who has been waiting eight years to defend her Olympic gold medal, had to wait a little longer after a flight delay Thursday.

Today's One Great Thing started out not so great. A high profile Olympian had some trouble getting to the games.

American Skier Lindsey Vonn will make it to Opening Ceremonies on time but much later than expected. Her flight from Munich to Seoul was delayed by about six hours due to a paperwork issue. She was on the flight with other Olympic athletes from Austria, Italy and Germany including the German flag-bearer.

The world learned about all of this from Lindsey Vonn herself on, where else, Twitter. She detailed the whole ordeal in a series of tweets. Eventually, some good news as they got the all clear. She thanked the flight attendants who volunteered to work overtime so the plane could take off.

So, a woman used to racing for the finish had to race to the beginning this time around and all of this is even more unreal when you remember that Vonn missed the Sochi Olympics because of a knee injury so she's actually been waiting eight years to get to this point.

Vonn seemed in good spirits through it all and said her King Charles spaniel, Lucy, snoozed by her feet through the whole affair. Vonn's first event is the Super G. That's not scheduled until February 17th.
