Of Course the Oscar Winner Who Got the Jet Ski is from WNY

In today's What's Trending, we'll give you a great reason to love that jet ski gag at the Oscars. Plus, we'll tell you which Academy Award winner lost her Oscar and provide indisputable proof that true style lasts forever.

We all know Oscar night can run a little long. This year, host Jimmy Kimmel wanted to give winners a reason to keep their speeches short and sweet so he offered up a jet ski to the person who gave the shortest speech.

It all unfolded Price is Right-style with an incredible assist by Helen Mirren and it became sort of a running gag throughout the show.

The winner ended up being Phantom Thread costume designer Mark Bridges. He offered some simple thank yous to the cast, crew and director and then rode off into Academy Award show history with Helen Mirren on a jet ski.

Well done.

Here's the best part. Bridges was born and raised in Niagara Falls, NY. All that, and he's a native Western New Yorker.

This, by the way, is Bridges second Academy Award. He also won in 2012 for The Artist.

What if you won an Oscar and then lost it?

It has happened before but maybe not this quickly.

Frances McDormand wowed at the ceremony but ended up beside herself last night.

She was celebrating at the Governor's Ball when she lost track of her new golden pal.

She was seen sobbing outside the party. She couldn't find it. She had given up the search and headed home with her husband, filmmaker Joel Coen.

Security was put on the case. Thankfully, the statue had already been engraved with her name at the party. Sure enough, they found it and we're happy to report that, according to her representative, "Fran and Oscar are happily reunited and enjoying an In & Out burger."

Finally, fashion is always such a big part of Oscar night and my vote this year goes to Rita Moreno.

No surprise, of course, that she looked beautiful but what was surprising is this is the same dress she wore to the 1962

Academy Awards when she won Best Supporting Actress for her role in West Side Story.

She presented last night. Moreno is a legend and living proof that fashion comes and goes but style really is forever.
