Joshua Robinson joined the 2 On Your Side Daybreak team in July 2017.

Before his career in journalism began, Joshua had never felt snow falling on his head, or ever thrown a snowball. Seriously. Growing up in Fresno, Los Angeles, and Las Vegas, the idea of a snowy winter was a foreign concept to Joshua.

During those years on the West Coast, Joshua pursued a career in culinary art, after studying at Le Cordon Bleu in Pasadena, CA. Shortly after, Joshua was hired as a Pastry Cook for all three of Mario Batali’s restaurants on the Las Vegas strip: Otto Pizzeria, B&B Ristorante, and Carnevino. Joshua then returned home to Fresno, and opened a Pastry Department as Pastry Chef at one of his favorite childhood bakeries.

Joshua eventually stepped away from culinary art-- although he still loves to cook, and will never turn away an opportunity to taste or prepare something new-- and returned to college at Fresno State University. Joshua joined the Broadcast Journalism program, where he received his Bachelor’s degree, along with a minor in Creative Non-fiction. Joshua was the student anchor for Global News Relay, a 6-hour worldwide newscast featuring student news organizations in US, UK, India, UAE, Bulgaria, Egypt, Indonesia, Lebanon, Germany, China, Japan, and Mexico.

After school, Joshua’s broadcasting career began at KTMF, the ABC and Fox affiliate in Missoula, MT, where he climbed the ranks as lead reporter and backup anchor within his first year. Joshua reported across the entire state of Montana, including stories that gained national attention like the rapid ascension of Montana’s methamphetamine crisis, and the chaotic special election of Montana’s lone Congressman, Greg Gianforte.

And yes, Joshua also finally threw his first snowball.

Joshua is excited to work in Buffalo because it represents a combination of everything he’s loved in every other place he’s lived: the four seasons, an unmatched local food scene, incredible outdoor recreation opportunities, and a dynamic sports fan-base. (Yes, Joshua is a rabid sports fan as well.)

Now that he’s moved to Buffalo, Joshua is looking forward to completing his first marathon, finding his favorite food and craft beer spots, visiting some east coast football and baseball stadiums, and—most importantly—joining all of you in sharing the incredible stories of Western New York!
