Stephanie Barnes has lived in Arizona and California for her entire life and is thrilled to experience a real four seasons, (even snow!), in Western New York.
She comes to WGRZ from Northern California where she worked for KRCR in Chico and KIEM in Eureka. During her time there she was awarded the opportunity to cover a high-profile murder trial in Sacramento, report from the front lines of a number of destructive wildfires and follow the political controversy in relation to the state's multi-year drought.
Prior to Northern California, Stephanie was in Southern California. She was an intern and editorial assistant for KNBC in Los Angeles. There she assisted producers with coverage of the Sochi Olympics and the death of Nelson Mandela. She also filled in as a traffic producer for the morning show, "Today in LA".
Stephanie earned her bachelor’s degree, with honors, from Pepperdine University in Malibu. She first found her passion for storytelling there, reporting and anchoring for the student-produced "Newswaves".
Stephanie was born and raised in Phoenix, Arizona and loves the dry heat.
