Philadelphia, PA (Sports Network) - Claude Giroux scored the winner in the
shootout as the Philadelphia Flyers took a 2-1 win over the New Jersey Devils
in the back end of a home-and-home on Friday.
In the second round, Giroux beat Johan Hedberg through the five-hole and Ilya
Bryzgalov stopped David Clarkson's attempt. After Danny Briere was stopped,
Patrik Elias missed the net on the final try as the Flyers defeated the Devils
for the first time in a shootout.
Maxime Talbot scored in the first period and Bryzgalov finished the game with
27 saves for the Flyers, who dropped a 5-2 decision in New Jersey on
Wednesday.
Clarkson tied the game in the second period while Hedberg finished the contest
with 21 stops for the Devils, who came into the game having won three of four.
