Calgary, AB (Sports Network) - Marian Hossa scored the game-tying goal with
2.1 seconds left in regulation and Patrick Kane provided the game-winner in
the second round of the shootout, as the Chicago Blackhawks bested the Calgary
Flames, 3-2, on Saturday at Scotiabank Saddledome.
After the first three shooters came up empty, Kane faked a shot and slipped a
backhand through the five-hole of Calgary goaltender Miikka Kiprusoff.
Roman Cervenka had a chance to extend the shootout, but his wrist shot was
turned aside by Chicago netminder Ray Emery, who saved an astounding 45 shots
before stopping all three shooters in the shootout.
Kane added a goal and an assist in regulation for the Blackhawks, who were
coming off back-to-back shootout losses.
Dennis Wideman and Jay Bouwmeester each lit the lamp for Calgary, which has
dropped two straight since registering its lone win of the season.
Kiprusoff recorded 17 saves in the setback.
