Detroit, MI (Sports Network) - Nick Minnerath scored a game-high 27 points as
the Detroit Titans defeated the Youngstown State Penguins, 88-77, in Horizon
League action at Calihan Hall.
Ray McCallum added 23 points and six assists, Jason Calliste had 16 points
and Doug Anderson chipped in 11 points for Detroit (15-8, 7-3 Horizon) which
has won four of its last five games.
Kendrick Perry paced Youngstown State with 22 points, Kamren Belin tacked on
19 points and Damian Eargle had 13 points, 12 rebounds and seven blocks for
Youngstown State (13-9, 5-4) which had a four-game winning streak snapped.
At the end of the first half Detroit held a slim 42-40 lead. The Titans shot
48.6 percent in the period but had two more total field goals than Youngstown
State which shot 51.7 percent in the first 20 minutes.
After halftime the Titans continued to shoot well connecting on 48.4 percent
of their shots from the floor. The Penguins cooled to 40 percent shooting in
allowing the Titans to pull away for the win.
Detroit forced 20 turnovers which it converted into 23 points. Youngstown
State hit 11 3-pointers in the contest and had a 38-33 edge in rebounds.
