Houston, TX (Sports Network) - The Houston Texans won't have starting nose
tackle Shaun Cody available for Sunday's marquee matchup with the Chicago
Bears, while tight end Owen Daniels is questionable to play due to an ailing
hip.
The Houston Chronicle reported earlier in the week that Cody suffered broken
ribs and a punctured lung during last Sunday's 21-9 victory over Buffalo. The
team officially ruled the eighth-year pro out on Friday.
Texans head coach Gary Kubiak termed Daniels' participation in Friday's
practice as "very limited" after the 2008 Pro Bowl selection sat out the
previous two days.
"He's a game-time decision, but he does have some progress to make if he's
gonna be there Sunday," said Kubiak.
Daniels leads the Texans with five touchdown catches, while his 37 receptions
and 478 receiving yards rank second on the team this season.
Cody has started seven of Houston's first eight games and totaled 13 tackles.
The Texans will also be without backup running back Ben Tate for a second
straight week when they visit Soldier Field to take on the Bears in a battle
of 7-1 teams. The third-year pro has been battling a hamstring injury.
